Pavilion of the Two Sisters Existing Exterior Conditions

Modeled after a traditional European orangery. With its long banks of arched windows, the Pavilion offers lovely vistas of the Zemurray Azalea and Camellia Garden featuring the Flute player fountain by artist Enrique Alferez to the east and the original 1930’s garden and new Conservatory to the west.

Botanical Gardens Existing Entryway

Set among the world’s largest stand of mature live oaks, the New Orleans Botanical Garden was originally built as the City Park Rose Garden. A project of the Works Progress Administration, the original seven acre garden was designed by landscape architect William Wierdon. The garden includes numerous sculptural works by artist Enrique Alferez and building designed by architect Richard Koch. At the time of it’s opening in 1936, the primary purpose of the garden was to provide the citizens of the city a beautiful, accessible place to enjoy while in the park.
